Typ tillbaks.

Tjena!

Thatcher Vs Acid House

BASSLINE. Margaret Thatcher died this monday, aged 87. I guess that it will be a long time before her legacy is sorted out in the UK. A lot of people hated her, and I guess a lot of people must have liked her – in the 80s at least – since she was reelected as PM three times.
Love her or hate her, at least one thing is certain, she left no stone unturned and didn't back away from political fights.
Thatcher was in no way a fan of the two past-times that have formed the identity of a lot of the 80's children – in the UK as well as here in Sweden – namely electronic music and football. So of course she took the fight to these areas as well.
Vice has a good piece about Thatchers fight against acid house that you ought to read. It's beautifully illustrated with pictures by Gavin Watson.
I remember reading that her all time favorite tune was "how much is that doggie in the window" and well, I guess with that as the soundtrack of your life the electronic music revolution might have sounded a little rough.
Luckily enough she didn't win all her fights. Music and culture will always thrive, under even the harshest conditions.

Happy 40th Pharell

BASSLINE. This is the first thing I remember hearing by Pharell and N.E.R.D. The man that put the trucker cap back in style has been going on strong ever since. Happy 40th! Keep inspiring.

Royal T – Eski Mix

BASSLINE. Southampton based producer Royal T and Rinse FM treat listeners with a journey back to the early days of grime in this aptly named "eski mix".
To the people that listened to grime back then, before it was even called grime, the mix will definitely shake loose a couple of great memories and put a big smile on your face.
To everyone else, enjoy this little music history lesson and some great tunes that are bound to get your booty shaking.

Listen or download from here.
When done listening to the "Eski Mix" why not head over here for the Sidewinder mix by DJ Slimzee featuring Dizzee Rascal and Wiley.

Daft Punk – The Creators Project – Giorgio Moroder

BASSLINE. As we slowly make our way toward the release of "Random Access Memories" the hype surrounding the album just keeps on growing.
To keep us interested Daft Punk has teamed up with The Creators Project to give a bit of information about the collaborators on their upcoming album. First out is music producer Giorgio Moroder, he tells us a bit about himself, and a bit about working with Daft Punk.
Just go ahead and watch the video already! Well worth your time.

Catequesis

GAMERS CORNER. If you clearly remember playing "Zelda A Link To The Past" and "Final Fantasy 6" on the SNES, well, I guess you're kinda old now – like me.
If your remember playing the original Zelda- and Final Fantasy-titles on the NES, well, I guess you're really old – just like me.

Catequesis is a in development game, by Pakarico and Curved Cat, and it looks like the guys behind it remember the good old gaming days as dearly as I do.
The game is a "survival horror story" and judging by the trailer it will be absolutely gorgeous. Catequesis is blessed with that 8-bit aesthetic some of us just can't seem to forget.
Also, the soundtrack is like honey to my ears. Can't wait to play this!

The Knife Shaking The Habitual

BASSLINE. It's not only french house masters Daft Punk that have decided to return to the studio and produce some new tunes for their hordes of fans.
Swedish brother-and-sister duo The Knife has done the exact same thing. Their new album "Shaking The Habitual" is set to hit stores on april 9th. If you can't wait that long, you can stream – as well as pre-order – the album at Pitchfork or The Knife's official site today.

Uncle Dugs Goldie interview

BASSLINE. DnB legend Goldie has lived a life less ordinary. I didn't really know the story behind the famous electronic musician, but, hey, now I do!
Rinse FM's own Uncle Dugs has done a two part interview with the man with the golden teeth. It's a story about graffiti, subculture and – most of all – music. It's also the story of a kid growing up without his parents being around, but still somehow beating the odds to become famous and influential by just doing his own thing. Inspirational stuff.

You should be able to get hold of the interview here.

Palace X Umbro

VISUAL CANDY. I'm busy celebrating easter so it's going to be a lazy post today, in others words: nothing brand new to treat you with.
With that said, this is my favorite collaboration from last year, and, admittedly, one of my all-time-favorite collabos.
The 90's inspired, casual football fan collection Palace Skateboards did for football brand Umbro just does it for me. Everything from the product design to the fantastic video marketing the collections is spot on.

I read "The Football Factory" long ago and really liked the rough vibe of the book. I'm not all that keen on the movie with the same name – it doesn't capture the feel of the book.
If I had it my way, they would film a re-make, with the guys behind this video producing and directing.
A smash hit for sure!
You're well advised to check out more of Palace's videos, top stuff!

Read a bit about how this collabo came to be, here.

The Nike Free 5.0

ADLAND. Besides the countless collaborations and coming up with new colorways for old sneakers, Nike also designs new stuff. During the past couple of years my main interest has been the Nike Free shoe-line.
Now the Free 5.0 is about to drop and with it comes a marketing campaign. In my opinion this new kaleidoscope inspired commercial really nails the "free" concept. Just watching you actually feel the shoe bend with your foot.
Nike promises us this shoe will be able to flex like crazy. I just hope they can deliver on that promise.

Tricky feat Francesca Belmonte

I'm really into this new tune "Does It" by Tricky featuring Franceseca Belmonte. The UK artist is about to release his tenth studio album "False Idols" come may, and judging by this tune the album may very well be Trickys return to the international spotlight.
Announced at the official Tricky website is a short european tour prior to the album release. No swedish dates, so i'll probably miss out, but if you're able to attend any of the venues, don't hesitate.
Yet another tune from the forthcoming album named "Nothing's Changed" can be found and downloaded – for free – from the Tricky website.

Bear House

VISUAL CANDY. I like Bearbricks as much as the next guy and have a small collection going on at home. Every time I buy clothes or other stuff from a store that carries Bearbricks I get a few packs as well. Recently I've been thinking about getting something fancy for my collection – like a display stand.

But not even in my wildest dreams would I've come up with what this thai family did for their collection. Their entire house is built to show off their precious Bearbricks. Don't know if I would wanna live there, but it would be a really cool place to visit!

Bearbricks are produced by japanese toy company Medicom. The Thai house is designed by Onion and you can check out the whole bear house feature here.

Jellyfish Eyes

MUSHI MUSHI. This may be slightly old news for everybody out there, not for me though, I stumbled upon it just now while browsing the web.

Japanese artist Takashi Murakami has a full length feature about to premier in Japan on the 23d of April. I'm really into his art and judging by this trailer "Jellyfish Eyes" will be a whole heap of fun. Sadly I haven't got the slightest clue if – and when – this will be available outside of Japan.

For those of you with a short term memory i'd like to take this opportunity and remind you of his latest video "Superflat" for Louis Vuitton, hot stuff!

English, please.

Ok, so I notice a lot of my traffic seems to be coming from the glorious land across the Pond, and a fair bit from the beautiful british isles.

I guess y'all can't make any sense whatsoever of my swedish ramblings. Well, hey, I'm a nice guy, so what I'll do is I'll switch it all into your language. You just got to bear with me when my english isn't on point, I'm not a native speaker.

So, to all you lovely visitors from the US of A, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland or wherever else you may be visiting from, a great big WELCOME to Bits N Tings!

Wes Anderson X Prada

REKLAMSPANING.

Daft Punk X Hip Hop

The Rap Quotes

VISUELLT GODIS.

Ratking – Piece Of Shit
